Animals
Picture an icy beach packed with thousands of penguins, all alike, all making noise. And yet every mom and dad finds their own chick in the crowd by recognizing its voice, like picking out a familiar song in the middle of a racket. That is how close these animals are, and it is exactly why they are so much fun to draw.
In this collection of penguin coloring pages you will find a bit of everything: a penguin bundled up in a scarf, a family looking after their chick, three friends playing next to an igloo, one ice skating and another giving the saxophone a try. You can color them in their real colors, black and white with an orange beak, or invent purple, green or any-color penguins you like.
At Coloring Together we love watching the gallery fill up with penguins of every color, like a noisy, happy colony. When you finish yours, send it over so we can add it to the group.

Why color penguin pictures?
Even though they are birds, penguins cannot fly through the air. What they do is fly underwater: they use their wings like flippers and move so fast they look like little torpedoes in a tuxedo. Coloring them is a calm way to get to know this very special animal.
While you choose the black of the back, the white of the belly and the orange of the beak, your hand loosens up and your mind settles. There is no rush: coloring slowly, breathing easy, is almost as relaxing as watching a penguin float in the sea.
We spread plenty of fun facts about penguins among the drawings, so every page you color leaves you with something new to share. Shall we begin?

- The emperor penguin dad keeps the egg on his feet all through the Antarctic winter, without eating, while the mom looks for food at sea. He can lose almost half his weight while he waits.
- Penguins cannot fly through the air, but they fly underwater: they use their wings like flippers. The gentoo penguin is the fastest and swims at around 35 kilometers per hour.
- Their tuxedo is a camouflage: from above, the black back blends into the dark water; from below, the white belly disappears against the bright surface. That is how they hide from predators.
- When it gets very cold, penguins huddle in huge groups to share warmth, rotating positions so everyone gets a turn in the middle, the coziest spot.
- Penguins can drink seawater with no problem: they have a gland that filters out the salt and then release it through the beak, almost like sneezing.
- The emperor penguin is the biggest of all and stands over a meter tall. The smallest is the little blue penguin, which barely reaches 30 centimeters, about the length of a ruler.
- A penguin's feathers are short, dense and coated with a waterproof oil it spreads with its own beak. That is why the icy water slides off and never soaks it underneath.
- Penguin chicks gather in little groups called crèches while their parents go fishing. That way they stay warmer and safer until the grown-ups come back with food.
- Some penguins propose with a pebble: the male hunts for the smoothest little stone he can find and gives it to the female to build the nest together.
