Drawing of a Meowl, half cat half owl, colored with crayons
Colored by the Coloring Together artists. See gallery.

Some animals live in the jungle and others in the sea, but the Meowl lives on the internet: it is half cat and half owl, and it got so popular that we put together this collection of Meowl coloring pages so you can give it every color you can think of.

You will find Meowls in every mood: a majestic one facing forward, one asleep in a basket, one playing with a ball of yarn and even one flying under the moon. Pick your favorite and try colored pencils, markers or crayons, because each one gives its feathers a different texture.

At Coloring Together we like to think that coloring is a bit like inventing impossible animals: there are no rules, just the urge to play. And when your Meowl is done, remember that we have a gallery where we show the drawings people send us, and we would love to add yours.

What is a Meowl, and why is it so much fun to color?

The Meowl does not exist in nature: it is an imaginary creature that was born on the internet by mixing the head of a cat with the body of an owl. Its name blends a cat's "meow" with "owl", and the result is a critter with pointy ears, huge eyes and wings ready to take off.

Coloring Meowls is a fun way to play with your imagination. As you decide what color the cat fur should be and what shade the owl feathers are, you are blending two animals into one and giving each drawing a brand new personality. There is no "correct" Meowl: yours can be orange, purple or rainbow.

We also tucked several fun facts about cats, owls and the Meowl meme between the drawings, so you learn something new with every page you paint. Time to grab your colors!

Learn while coloring Meowl

  1. The Meowl is not a real animal: it is a made-up creature that lives only in drawings and imaginations. Its name joins "meow" (a cat sound) with "owl".
  2. The first Meowl appeared in 2013 on the Chinese site Weibo: someone put the face of a viral cat named Melonpi onto a barn owl body, and the mash-up spread around the world.
  3. The Meowl became hugely popular in 2024 and 2025 thanks to TikTok and X, and even showed up as a character in Roblox games.
  4. Owls can turn their heads almost 270 degrees, so a Meowl could look behind itself without moving its body. Their eyes are so big they cannot move inside the face.
  5. Owls fly almost silently: the edges of their feathers have a kind of comb that softens the sound of the air.
  6. Cats have a tiny mirror inside their eye, the tapetum lucidum, that makes their gaze glow in the dark. So a Meowl would see at night just as well as an owl.
  7. Cats sleep between 12 and 16 hours a day, almost two thirds of their life. A Meowl would be a world champion napper.
  8. The pointy "ears" on many owls are not ears: they are tufts of feathers. The real ears are two hidden openings that help them tell where a sound is coming from.
  9. A cat's whiskers measure the width of any gap it squeezes through, and the feathery facial disc of an owl works like an antenna that gathers sound. A Meowl would have both super senses.
