At dawn, when the forest is still quiet, a deer often appears, walking slowly between the trees. It is one of the most graceful animals out there, and these deer coloring pages let you bring one home to color however you like.

We gathered deer of every kind: tiny spotted fawns, a whole family strolling under the sun, and impressive bucks with huge antlers. You can reach for the usual browns or go for a fantasy deer in purple, blue or gold: on the page, you are in charge.

The best part about deer is that no two are alike, so you can try out color combinations without ever worrying about getting it wrong.

Why color deer coloring pages?

The deer is a plant-eating animal that lives in forests almost everywhere, and it is easy to spot by the antlers the males carry. The curious thing is that those antlers fall off and grow back every year, bigger than before.

Coloring deer is both fun and relaxing. As you choose the shade of the coat and how carefully you fill in each antler, your mind clears and your hand loosens up. For little ones it is a way to practice focus without noticing; for grown-ups, a quiet moment in the middle of the day.

And when you finish, at Coloring Together we would love you to share your deer in our gallery, so others can see how it turned out.

Learn while coloring Deer

  1. A deer's antlers fall off and grow back every single year. While they grow, they are covered in a soft skin called velvet, which the deer later rubs off against trees.
  2. Fawns are born with white spots on their backs. The spots work as camouflage: they blend with the light filtering through the leaves and help keep predators from spotting them.
  3. Deer have an incredible sense of hearing and smell. They can move each ear separately to listen in different directions without turning their head.
  4. In almost every deer species, only the males grow antlers. The exception is the reindeer, where the females have them too.
  5. Deer are great jumpers and swimmers. Some can leap fences over two meters high and cross rivers with ease when they need to.
  6. The largest deer in the world is the moose, which can weigh more than 700 kilos; the smallest is the pudu, standing just about 35 centimeters tall.
