9 Hen Coloring Pages to Print for Free!
Animals
If you have ever spent a morning in the countryside, you surely heard that happy *cluck, cluck, cluck* hens make while they scratch at the ground looking for seeds and little worms. The hen is one of the most beloved friends on any farm: she gives us fresh eggs, stays busy all day long, and looks after her chicks like the very best of moms. That is why we gathered a whole flock of hen coloring pages just for you.
You will find all kinds: cartoon hens with a huge smile, realistic hens standing in the yard, a mother hen watching over her chick, another one brooding her eggs in the nest, and even a fancy one perched up on a beam. There are simple, big drawings for the littlest ones and others full of feathers and details for those who already have some practice.
Pick your favorite colors and do not worry about the rules: a hen can be brown, white, reddish, black, or any color you like. The only thing that matters is that you have fun while you color. And when you are done, here at Coloring Together we love to see how each drawing turned out.

Why color hen drawings?
The hen has kept people company for thousands of years, and it is no accident: she is curious, sociable, and much smarter than she looks. She lives in a group, has her own way of communicating, and can even recognize the faces of her companions. Coloring her is a lovely way to get to know her a little better.
Sitting down to color a hen, with her overlapping feathers, her comb, and those three-toed feet, is a relaxing exercise that helps you focus and let go of the day rush. Choosing a color for each part, slowly and without hurry, is almost like taking a deep breath with your pencils in hand.
On top of that, we leave a fun fact on every page, so when you finish the drawing you will also walk away with something new to share. And once your hen is ready, add it to our gallery: we love seeing just how many different colors a single hen can wear.

- Hens are distant relatives of the dinosaurs. Scientists found out that birds, hens included, descend from dinosaurs similar to the Tyrannosaurus rex. So you have a tiny dinosaur in the henhouse.
- They have a great memory for faces: a hen can recognize and remember around 100 different faces, both of other hens and of people.
- They see more colors than we do. Their eyes make out every color of the rainbow and even ultraviolet light, which is invisible to humans.
- There are more hens than any other bird on Earth: there are about 8 billion people, and more than 25 billion chickens.
- Hens organize their group with a ranking order. That is where the phrase "pecking order" comes from: the bossiest ones get to eat first.
- They communicate with more than 30 different sounds, each with its own meaning: the call to warn about danger from the sky is different from the one for danger on the ground.
- They love taking dust baths. They roll around in dry dust to clean their feathers and get rid of the little bugs on them.
- The color of an egg usually matches the color of the hen earlobes: hens with white earlobes lay white eggs, and those with red earlobes lay brown ones.
- A hen does not need a rooster to lay eggs: she lays them anyway, but without a rooster those eggs will never turn into chicks.
- While brooding, a hen turns her eggs almost 50 times a day so they warm evenly, and a chick takes about 21 days to hatch.
