A crab carries its house on its back. Its shell is a hard suit of armor that protects it from head to legs, which is why it can stroll calmly across the sand, among the rocks or down on the ocean floor. The best part of these crab coloring pages is that the armor is still blank, so the color of each crab is up to you.
We gathered crabs for every taste: one with a king's face and a crown, another sneaking out of a beach bucket, a hermit crab peeking out of its shell and even a huge one holding its claws up high. You can paint them the classic red or invent a purple crab, a sky-blue one or a striped one: here, the beach is yours.
At Coloring Together we picture our gallery as a very long shore where there is room for a crab of every color. When you finish yours, send it to us so we can add it: we would love your crab to scuttle sideways among the others.

Why color crab pictures?
There are crabs almost everywhere on the planet: in the sea, on the beach, among the rocks and even in some rivers. The crab is a crustacean with a hard shell and two claws it uses to eat, to defend itself and even to send messages to other crabs. Coloring it is a fun way to get to know it up close.
While you choose the color of the shell and of each leg, your hand loosens up and your mind relaxes, just like a crab slowly burying itself in the cool sand. It is a calm little while for you, with no rush and nothing that has to come out perfect.
We also added lots of fun facts about crabs spread among the drawings, so every page you color leaves you with something new to share. Shall we start coloring sideways?

- There are more than 6,800 species of crabs around the world. You will find them in the sea, on the beach, climbing rocks and even walking on land far from the water.
- Almost all crabs walk sideways. Their legs bend out to the sides, so moving sideways is much faster and comfier for them than going straight ahead.
- A crab's shell is a suit of armor that does not grow. To get bigger, the crab swaps the whole thing: it slips out of the old one and a new shell appears, soft at first.
- If a crab loses a claw or a leg, it grows back. It takes several shell changes, but little by little a new one comes in, almost just like the old.
- The hermit crab is not a true crab: it lives tucked inside empty shells and, when it outgrows one, it moves to a bigger one, like someone changing houses.
- The Japanese spider crab is the biggest of them all. From the tip of one leg to the other it can measure almost 4 meters, longer than a car.
- The male fiddler crab has one giant claw and one tiny claw. It waves the big claw in the air to get attention and to warn that the spot is his.
- A crab's blood is bluish, because to carry oxygen it uses copper instead of the iron that we use.
- On Christmas Island, millions of red crabs walk together from the forest to the sea once a year to lay their eggs. It is one of the most impressive animal marches on the planet.
