9 Lemming Coloring Pages to Print for Free!
Animals
Let's clear something up first: lemmings do NOT leap off cliffs in giant crowds. That famous story is a myth, and further down we tell you where it came from. What is true is that they are tiny, round, furry rodents that live where almost nobody can stand the cold. That is why coloring them is a fun way to travel to the tundra without leaving your home.
We put together this collection of lemming coloring pages with all kinds of poses: some look like plush toys and others are drawn just the way they appear in the snow. You decide whether you want a really cute style or a more realistic one, and then you add the colors you like best.
There is no right way to color: you can stay neat or go outside the lines on purpose, use real browns or invent a purple lemming. The only thing that matters is having fun and letting your imagination run free.
When your masterpiece is ready, here at Coloring Together we have a gallery where we show the drawings artists send us. Take a photo of yours and add it to our colorful little herd!

Why color lemming pictures?
Lemmings are tiny rodents that live in the northern tundra, near the Arctic, in places like Norway, Canada and Russia. They are smaller than your hand, and yet they survive harsh winters by digging tunnels under the snow, where they stay warm and cozy.
Coloring them is a great way to get to know a little animal that hardly anyone talks about. While you pick the color of its fur, you discover how it lives, what it eats and why it matters so much to the great hunters of the ice, like the snowy owl and the Arctic fox.
We also added plenty of fun facts about lemmings so you learn a little more with every drawing. That way coloring becomes a calm, enjoyable activity that teaches you new things along the way. Shall we begin?

- Lemmings do not commit suicide by jumping off cliffs. That myth became famous thanks to a 1958 documentary in which the filmmakers actually pushed the animals for the camera. Poor lemmings, blamed for something they never did!
- They are very small rodents: they measure between 10 and 18 centimeters, about the length of a banana, and weigh less than an apple.
- They live in the tundra, a frozen region near the North Pole. You can find them in countries like Norway, Sweden, Russia, Canada and the United States (Alaska).
- In winter they do not hibernate. They stay active under the snow, where they dig tunnels and build cozy nests to hide from the cold.
- The collared lemming is the only rodent that changes color: its fur turns white in winter so it can blend into the snow.
- Every three or four years there are population booms: so many lemmings are born that suddenly there are huge numbers of them. Then the number drops again, in a cycle that keeps repeating.
- The Norway lemming is famous for being brave: when it feels threatened it does not run away. It stands its ground, squeaks loudly and even faces animals much bigger than itself.
- They are a favorite meal for many Arctic hunters. The snowy owl, the Arctic fox and the stoat depend on them: in years with few lemmings, those animals raise fewer babies.
- They breed incredibly fast. A female can have several litters in a single year, and the babies grow so quickly that within a few weeks they can have their own pups.
- Because of the myth, people today say someone 'is a lemming' when they follow the crowd without thinking. There is even a famous video game inspired by that idea!
