The letter R is the eighteenth letter of the Spanish alphabet, and also its fourteenth consonant. According to its etymology, in Spanish the letter R is feminine.

This letter has very interesting aspects that will leave you amazed - for example, did you know that the letter R is used as a vowel in the Czech, Sanskrit and Serbo-Croatian languages? It's wild! In Spanish, when a multiple trilled sound is produced it is written with a double R.

The letter R of the Latin alphabet comes from the Greek letter Rho, which in turn arose from the Phoenician sign "resh", whose meaning was head.
The letter R contains a great variety of sounds, among them the trilled consonant (like the one used by Spaniards or Italians) and the uvular consonant, as in the French of "Paris".
In several languages the letter R is used as a vowel. An example of this is in the Czech, Sanskrit or Serbo-Croatian languages. Incredible!
In the Arabic alphabet, the letter R is written in the opposite direction to that of the Spanish alphabet.
In the Eastern alphabet there is no graphic representation of the letter R, which is why Asian speakers have a lot of difficulty pronouncing this letter.
