  11. Oymyakon is the coldest place on Earth, and it is located in Russia. The average temperature in December and January is around -50°C. How crazy!
  12. The famous matryoshkas have a Japanese origin. Sergey Malyutin wanted to create a wooden Russian doll, and it was when he received a Japanese daruma figure with other dolls hidden inside. From there his project was born.
  13. Did you know that Russia is almost the same size as Pluto? The surface of Russia covers 17 million square kilometers, and Pluto has a surface of 17.6 million square kilometers. Almost!
  14. In Russia there is a lake that holds 20% of the world's fresh water. It is Lake Baikal, the deepest lake in the world.
  15. Alaska used to be property of Russia, but it was sold to the United States in 1867 for 7 million dollars.
