  3. The queen of the Netherlands is Argentine, Maxima Zorreguieta. She is 1.78 m tall, which lets her match the average height in Holland.
  4. Do you know what the national flower of Holland is? It's the tulip. Each year more than 4 million bulbs are produced. Tulip farms usually take up more than 10,000 hectares.
  5. In the Netherlands there are more than 22 million bicycles, and there are barely 17 million residents. That's right! There are more bicycles than people.
  6. The Netherlands is known for being an icon of windmills. They have more than 1,000 windmills all over the country!

  8. The Schiphol airport in Amsterdam is 3 meters below sea level. Incredible!
  9. In 2001 the Netherlands was the first state to legalize marriage between same-sex couples.
  10. In the Netherlands, on the first Monday of every month an emergency siren is sounded, with the goal of checking that the systems work in case of a dangerous situation.
