Why color biology pictures?

Biology is one of the most complex and extensive sciences that exist. It is very branched out and includes other extremely important areas of knowledge such as genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology, and veterinary medicine. If biology did not exist, our lives would be very different from how we know them.

We couldn't enjoy foods as delicious as bread or yogurt, activities like livestock farming and agriculture would be enormously difficult for us, and our life expectancy would be much lower due to our poor protection against various diseases.

Biology really is very important! And just like life, it is super broad and diverse. Did you know that it is estimated that there are more than 8.7 million living things on Earth? And only 10 to 20% have been studied! Biologists have work for a long time! Just like you, who have a ton of biology drawings to color.

Remember to read the fun facts we have gathered for you. They go with each drawing and are at the top of the screen. They are very interesting and we are sure they will surprise you!

Let's not waste any more time and get started right away! Bring all your materials and grab a few sheets of white paper so you can print the biology pictures to color that you liked the most.

We will turn our art workshop into the most creative laboratory of all! The difference is that you won't work with living things... instead, you will be the one who brings all these drawings to life!

  1. Biology is the science that studies life; and the word “biology” comes from the Greek words “bios” and “logia,” which mean “life” and “science” respectively.
  2. To make their study easier, biologists and taxonomists have grouped living things into six kingdoms of life. These are the Animalia kingdom, the Plantae kingdom, the Fungi kingdom, the Bacteria kingdom, the Archaea kingdom, and the Protista kingdom.
  3. Did you know that extremophile beings can live in conditions as extreme as a river more acidic than a lemon, a desert where it doesn't rain all year, or a lake of boiling water? These microorganisms are experts at adapting to the most inhospitable environments!
  4. Have you wondered what the first living thing on Earth was? Scientists have nicknamed it “LUCA,” which is the acronym for “Last Universal Common Ancestor.” It was a single-celled organism similar to a bacterium that lived 4 billion years ago.
  5. Have you wondered what the largest tree in the world is? It is a coast redwood that stands 115.85 meters tall and up to 5 meters in diameter, which has been nicknamed “Hyperion.” It is located in Redwood National Park, in California, United States.
  6. Do you know which is the strangest animal of all? Without a doubt, the platypus! It is an Australian mammal that reproduces through eggs, sweats milk, has a bill like a duck, a tail like a beaver, feet like an otter, venomous spurs, and the ability of electroreception. Incredible!
  7. Have you wondered what the smallest living thing that exists is? It is the bacterium Mycoplasma genitalium, a parasitic microorganism that measures only between 0.0002 and 0.0008 millimeters.
  8. The blue whale is the largest animal of all time. An adult specimen can reach up to 30 meters in length and weigh more than 180 tons. This marine giant is bigger than any dinosaur that ever existed!
  9. The largest land animal in the world is the African elephant. Males are larger than females, and can reach up to 4 meters in height, 7.5 meters in length, and 10 tons in weight. Truly impressive!
  10. At up to 6 meters tall and 1.5 tons in weight, the giraffe is the tallest animal in the world. This means that the height of an adult giraffe is equivalent to a two-story house!
  11. Not all bacteria are bad! Did you know that some are added to milk to make yogurt? These bacteria that start the fermentation process and are beneficial to humans are called “probiotic bacteria.”
  12. Not all fungi are harmful to our health! A clear example of this is brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), a type of single-celled fungus that is essential in the process of making beer, bread, and some wines.
  13. Did you know that around 38 trillion bacteria live in the human body? That means there are more bacteria in your body than human cells!
  14. The most abundant living things on planet Earth are bacteria. When it comes to animals, the most abundant are insects and the micro-animals that make up zooplankton and the soil microfauna.
  15. Did you know that orchids are the flowering plants with the most species diversity? Currently around 28,000 different species have been described, and it is estimated that more than 2,000 species are yet to be discovered.
