Why color calendars pictures?

How much do you know about calendars? Maybe you know that it's a way of counting time, but what else? Calendars are much more interesting than you think. Here we'll tell you a couple more things about them.

For example, in ancient times, many calendars were based on the lunar cycles. Did you know that? On the other hand, the beginning of the year of the Roman calendar was not January. Do you know which month was the first? March!

Julius Caesar, the famous emperor, added a day to July, and Augustus did the same with the month of August. The history of calendars is indeed interesting, but at Coloring Together we have much more to teach you, which is why we want you to come with us to paint the calendar drawings to print and color.

Learn while coloring Calendars

  1. The first known solar calendar is the Egyptian one, which began to be used in the year 3000 B.C.
  2. The month of March was named that way in honor of Mars, the god of war, violence, and passion.
  3. The Egyptian solar calendar was very similar to the one we use today. It had 365 days: 12 months of 30 days each, plus 5 additional days at the end of the year. Incredible!
  4. In the beginning, there were 10 months, not 12 as today. Did you know that?
  5. In ancient times, the first month of the year was not January. Can you guess which one it was? That's right! March.
  6. After the death of Julius Caesar, the seventh month was named July, in his honor.
  7. Thanks to the great Roman influence, when the calendar imposed by Julius Caesar in Rome began to be adopted, most Western countries adopted this Julian calendar, even though it had small errors.
  8. The Persian calendar, known as the Iranian calendar, has its origin in the Zoroastrian calendar, based on the cycles of the sun. This is the official calendar of Iran.
  9. The month of August was named so thanks to Octavian Augustus, the first Roman emperor. Incredible!
  10. The Jewish calendar is based on the cycles of the Moon, and has 12 months with an additional month that is added seven times in a cycle of 19 years. Amazing!
  11. In the beginning, the month of August was an even month and had 30 days, and it was named so in honor of Octavian Augustus, the first Roman emperor. However, later a day was added so as not to be inferior to Julius Caesar.
  12. The Mayan calendar had two types of years: the "haab" of 365 days, and the "tzolkin" of 260 days.
  13. Before the arrival of the Romans, in Europe different calendars were used in each region, which had different numbers of months, and therefore the years did not last the same. What chaos!
  14. In North Korea the official calendar is the "Juche calendar". It's based on the birth year of the country's founder, Kim Il-Sung.
  15. The Gregorian calendar received its name in honor of Pope Gregory XIII.
  16. The word "calendar" comes from the word "calends", whose origin dates back to Ancient Rome. This word referred to the first day of the month in the Roman calendar.
  17. The Julian calendar was used before the Gregorian calendar, and it had a leap year every four years.
  18. Before the emperor Julius Caesar, the calendar that the Romans used separated the months according to the lunar period. Imagine how unstable it was!
  19. Julius Caesar was influenced by the calendar of the Egyptians and adopted a calendar based on the solar cycle, since it was much more stable. Great!
  20. The Hindu calendar, also called "Panchanga", is a lunisolar calendar, that is, it was based on both the lunar and solar cycles, and constitutes the set of all the calendars. Incredible!
