These monsters have their origin in a Celtic tradition, Samhain. It's said that on that date the dead walked through the world of the living in a festive way, however, other souls, less happy, sought revenge.

- Mummies are monsters that are never missing from a Halloween party. They are corpses preserved for centuries, how scary! The first mummies that are known of date back to the Neolithic, when the inhabitants of Egypt buried their dead under the desert sands.
- It's said that the first documented ghost is found in the letters of Pliny the Younger, a lawyer and scientist of ancient Rome (61 to 112 AD). In his letters he documents a ghostly apparition in a haunted house in Athens.
- Frankenstein has been a popular figure of the horror genre and of Halloween night ever since Mary Shelley published her novel titled "Frankenstein" or "The Modern Prometheus". It's a work conceived as horror, but it raises science fiction themes.
