Why color knights pictures?

Knights with their shining armor riding their brave horses have always been admired figures. Becoming a knight was a great honor and hard to achieve, since it was only possible for those who were sons of knights, nobles, or who showed great valor in battle.

The values of knights and their code of conduct gave rise to the term "chivalry," which is related to the noble values expected of a man.

These great heroes of history couldn't be left without a space in our gallery, and at Coloring Together we are proud to present the best knight images to color you can find.

That's not all! You'll be able to learn more about these heroes of history with the little facts we've left above each of the coloring pages. Are you excited already? Great! It's time to get ready for the battle of colors.

  1. The origin of the word "knight" comes from horses and started in the Roman Empire, not in the Middle Ages as some think. This is because in that era soldiers fought on horseback.
  2. The term "chivalry" had a different meaning in medieval times, as it was related to the knights' code of conduct. They had to swear loyalty to their lord, respect women and the weak, and protect the Catholic Church.
  3. Not all knights had the same rank. Knights who took orders from another were called "knights bachelor," while the knight who led a battle held the title of "knight banneret."
  4. "Keeping vigil through the night" was an expression born in the age of knights thanks to a ritual that squires performed the night before being knighted. This ritual consisted of spending the night watching over their weapons while dressed in immaculate white.
  5. Becoming a knight was not easy. To become a knight you had to be a descendant of another knight, the son of an aristocrat, or have performed an act of great honor and bravery on the battlefield.
  6. Being a knight required a lot of money. Knights had to own horses, armor, weapons, and servants to help them on the battlefield. To help them, the king granted them lands, and the inhabitants of that domain had to pay tribute to the knight.
  7. The horses that knights used on the battlefield were called destriers and were up to 10 times more expensive than a common horse. Destriers could bear the weight of their own armor and that of their rider without any problems.
  8. Knights formed different military orders, whether for reasons of origin or religious beliefs. Among some of the orders we can name were the Knights Templar, the Teutonic Knights, the Knights Hospitaller, among many other orders.
  9. Did you know that the title of knight still exists? Although they no longer use armor and sword. This title is given for services rendered to the crown or to humanity.
  10. Sir William Marshal is known as "the greatest knight that ever lived." It is said he earned a fortune thanks to his victories on the medieval tournament circuit. He went undefeated for 16 years!
  11. Richard I of England, also called "the Lionheart," was a king and knight who was one of the leaders of the Third Crusade (1189-1192). The three lions that were part of his coat of arms are still part of the British royal family's coat of arms today.
  12. The knightly orders were born with a humanitarian purpose in the Holy Land, but over time they took on a military role.
