Andy Warhol was an American visual artist and actor who played a crucial role in the birth and development of pop art. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1928 and graduated in Pictorial Design from the Carnegie Institute in 1949.
Warhol used different mediums to create his works, such as hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, screen printing, sculpture, film, and music.
He is known for his paintings and screen prints of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Mohammed Ali, as well as for his depictions of everyday products like Campbell's soup cans.

- Warhol was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and his parents were Czechoslovak emigrants.
- When Warhol was a child, he suffered from an illness called Sydenham's chorea or "Saint Vitus' Dance", which caused him involuntary movements in his limbs and pink spots on his skin.
- Andy Warhol studied commercial art at Carnegie Mellon University and graduated in 1949. His first job was drawing shoes for Glamour magazine, incredible!
- Andy Warhol got started in Pop Art in the early 60s, drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of everyday life and mass consumption.
- Warhol was one of the first to adopt the screen printing process as a technique for making paintings, which allowed him to reproduce images on a large scale and with vivid colors.
- Andy Warhol held his first solo exhibition in 1962, at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles, where he showed his 32 paintings of Campbell's soup cans. Each one sold for 100 dollars.
- In 1964, Andy created his own art studio called The Factory, where he worked with other artists, musicians, actors, and models.
- In 1968, Andy Warhol was shot by a radical feminist named Valerie Solanas, who shot him three times in the chest. Warhol survived the attack, but was severely wounded and had to wear an orthopedic corset for the rest of his life.
- Warhol was Catholic and frequently attended mass at the church of Saint Vincent Ferrer. He also supported social causes such as the fight against AIDS, hunger, and violence.
- Warhol had a phobia of hospitals and avoided going to them at all costs. Paradoxically, he died in a hospital on February 22, 1987, at 58 years old.
