  1. It's believed that the first snow globes date back to the 19th century and that they appeared in France, as a successor to the glass paperweight.
  2. Snow globes appeared at the Universal Exposition of Paris in 1878.
  3. One of the versions about the origin of snow globes is that they were invented by accident by Erwin Perzy, in 1900, when he was trying to improve Thomas Edison's light bulb.
  4. Erwin Perzy's family created the Snow Globe Factory and Museum. Incredible!
  5. One of the most replicated buildings in snow globes is none other than the Eiffel Tower.
  6. In the United States the first snow globe patent was granted in 1927 to Joseph Garaja, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  7. It's said that the first snow globe had inside it a miniature figure of the Basilica of Mariazell. Amazing!
