Do you like our gardener? He looks super sweet taking care of the plants. We took a little while because we weren't sure exactly how to paint him, would you have done it differently? We'd love to know which technique you would have used.

Why color gardeners pictures?

Gardeners are people who take care of maintaining a garden. It's considered a trade, and it's more complex than it seems. Do you know what duties a gardener has to fulfill?

A gardener has to take care of preserving seeds, of growing flowers and caring for them until they can be moved to the garden, and finally, they have to prune and care for the trees.

  1. "The Gardener" is one of the most famous paintings by Vincent van Gogh, dating from 1889. It's said that this painting had a lot of meaning for him, especially because he was fascinated by the peasant way of life.
  2. In Greece gardens were one of the most important elements, since they were a synonym of culture, learning and knowledge.
  3. Do you know who introduced gardening in Spain? It was the Romans! Although none of those creations were able to survive to the present day.
  4. Gardening is not just a job for men. Beatrix Jones Farrand is a "landscape gardener" who has designed gardens for very important clients, such as Rockefeller.
  5. The first gardener in history was Theophrastus (ca. 371 BC - ca. 287 BC). He's considered the pioneer of gardening and was the first to classify plants based on their medicinal properties.
  6. Columella (Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella) was a Roman writer famous for his work "De re rustica," one of the most complete agriculture treatises of antiquity.
  7. Josephine de Beauharnais was a collector of rose bushes who was obsessed with the garden designs of the era (1763 - 1814). Her collection came to have more than 650 specimens. Amazing!
  8. Charles de L'Écluse was one of the most famous gardeners of the 16th century, as he was the creator of one of the first botanical gardens in Europe, and is also considered the founder of horticulture.
