- Did you know that the heaviest door in the world is in Gifu, Japan? The radiation door of the National Institute for Fusion Science was installed in 1994, weighs 720 tons and measures 11.73 meters tall, 11.4 meters wide and 2 meters thick. Impressive!
- The tallest doors in the world are located in Cape Canaveral, United States. These are the four doors of NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building, which measure 139 meters tall each. They are as tall as a 35-story building!
- The tallest revolving door in the world is located at the "Novotel Citygate Hong Kong" hotel, in Hong Kong. In June 2006 it was confirmed that its height was 4.8 meters. Astonishing!
- The largest sliding doors in the world have dimensions of 67.46 meters tall, 26.95 meters wide and 2.5 meters thick. They are located at the "Tanegashima Space Center of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency" and weigh an incredible 400 tons each.
- Triumphal arches are arch-shaped door monuments built to commemorate military victories. Some of the most famous in the world are the "Puerta de Alcala" in Madrid, the "Arch of Constantine" in Rome and the "Arc de Triomphe" in Paris.
- Have you ever wondered about the reason for door knockers with monstrous or grotesque designs? Besides announcing the arrival of a visitor, it was said that the scary knockers served to ward off evil spirits from the front door of the home. Incredible!
- It is likely that at some point you have heard of the famous "Puerta del Sol" in Madrid. Although it may seem ironic, this monument is not a door, but a plaza. In it you can find the Real Casa de Correos and a tower clock.
