Tacos are tortillas filled with any ingredient, and that you can season with the sauce you like most. There are other types of tacos that have different names, like "enchiladas."

Like other very interesting dishes, tacos have a history that dates back many years. Its origin is not known specifically, but it appeared at the end of the 19th century in novels and essays.

Since then, the taco has become rooted in Mexican culture as a food that is not only popular, but typical and characteristic of this country. And you, what do you say? Don't you crave some tacos?

  5. It is said that tacos have Mesoamerican ancestry, since there are traces that the Aztecs knew corn bread, the raw material of the taco.
  6. In Mexican iconography there appears what could be the first appearance of the rolled tortilla, around the 16th century. Amazing!
  7. Officially, the word "taco" appears in the 19th century, in dictionaries, novels and essays.
  8. From the 1920s onward, tacos were already very famous on the streets of Mexico City.

  22. Basket tacos were invented in the mining regions of Hidalgo and Guanajuato.
  23. Taco Day is celebrated on March 31 since 2007, and it was an invention of Televisa.
  24. The largest taco in the world was made of carnitas, certified by the Official Guinness World Records Registry. It measured 102 meters, and was prepared in 2019.
  25. An American named Joey Chestnut ate 53 tacos in 10 minutes. Amazing! He also won five thousand dollars as a prize.
