  11. The Pokémon movie was the highest-grossing anime film in the United States when it premiered in 1999. In that North American country, it holds the record of being the most-watched Japanese animated film in history.
  12. Pokémon is one of the longest series in history, with 23 seasons, adding up to more than 1000 episodes.
  13. In Saudi Arabia the game "Pokémon Go" was banned because the clerics argue that the game promotes the theory of evolution.
  14. Pikachu was named the second best person of the year 1999 by Time magazine, and the eighth richest fictional character of 2003 by Forbes magazine.
  15. Pikachu is such a famous Pokémon that a protein has even been named after it. It's called pikachurin and it was discovered by a group of Japanese scientists.
  16. Do you know where Satoshi Tajiri got his idea to create Pokémon? It's because when he was young, he had the hobby of gathering and collecting insects.
  17. Some Pokémon cards are very valuable. Seriously! The first Charizard card that was sold can be worth around 2,000 euros these days. That's way too much!
  18. Pokémon, despite its popularity, has had controversial episodes. One of them is the episode called "Electric Soldier Porygon" which caused epileptic seizures in nearly 700 children during its broadcast in Japan.
  19. Do you know the Pokémon Eevee? It's a rare Pokémon that can evolve in eight different ways, and the most incredible thing is that its name is the English pronunciation of the first two letters of the word "evolution".
  20. On February 27, 1996 the video games Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green debuted in Japan, for the Game Boy console. These were the titles that started the saga.
  21. In the last 25 years since the launch of the Pokémon franchise, more than 60 games have been published. How many of them have you played?
