Any number raised to the power of 0 equals 1. It may sound a little illogical because of the properties of exponents, but we can check it: if we divide 2 squared by itself we get 4/4 = 1, and if we apply the properties of exponents, 2 squared divided by 2 squared = 2 to the 0 = 1.
